Dead-heading rose bushes can be a daunting task but I have stumbled upon an ingenious and easy way to dead-head roses. This technique is especially handy for climbing rose bushes that are hard to reach. Turn your hose nozzle to the "jet" position and spray the spent blooms of your rose bushes. The "jet" spray has just enough pressure to knock off the dead petals without harming the branches and foliage of your rose bushes. Now for those roses that only bloom on new wood, still use the jet spray technique to get rid of those ugly brown spent petals and to tidy up the look of the bush; then at your leisure go back and snip off the stems down to a leaf union with pruners.
